SHR Consulting Group, LLC is a small business specializing in federal IT services across the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and civilian agencies. SHR holds a Top Secret facility clearance and maintains certifications including CMMC Level 2, ISO 9001, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, and CMMI DEV/SVC Maturity Level 3. Contract vehicles include GSA STARS III, OASIS+, and a $300M DISA Platform and Core Services BPA. SHR’s technical focus areas include enterprise IT, engineering, platform operations, cybersecurity engineering and compliance, AI/ML, emerging technologies, and cloud infrastructure across DoD and FedRAMP environments.

We are a rapidly growing organization seeking a hands-on, Onsite Lead Network Systems Administrator to serve as our primary onsite technical point of contact for SHR's contract personnel. This position will help guide our systems administration team in providing Tier III operational support for the J63H Platform Services environment, supporting server infrastructure, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), storage systems, backup and recovery services, and enterprise application environments in the Hampton Roads, VA area (Full-Time Onsite). This individual will help oversee and also be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and securing Windows-based server and network systems supporting mission-critical DoD operations, as the company's most senior member onsite. To be considered, you must have an active DoD clearance and reside locally in the Hampton Roads, VA area.

This position supports Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VMware virtualization technologies, storage systems, backup solutions, and enterprise IT services while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, RMF controls, STIGs, and IAVAs. The Network System Administrator collaborates with cybersecurity, network operations, and engineering teams to maintain system availability, performance, and security.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist with the administration of Windows Server environments and enterprise services.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and DFS.
  • Perform server deployment, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
  • Support VMware vSphere and VDI environments.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Support SAN storage and backup/recovery operations.
  • Maintain compliance with RMF, STIG, ACAS, and IAVA requirements.
  • Support disaster recovery and continuity of operations activities.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and change requests using ITSM tools.
  • Mentor existing team and provide recruiting/interview assistance for new positions
  • Additional duties as assigned by program executives and corporate leadership staff.
  • Act as technical lead for SHR personnel onsite.
  • Become a liaison for subcontract leads; maintain communication and coordination with other designated technical leads.
  • Escalate any operational risks, staffing concerns, and technical or program issues to company leadership.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of system administration experience, with 3 of those years in a lead, senior, or managing role.
  • Experience with Windows Server administration.
  • Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SQL administration and backups.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
  • DoD 8140/8570 certification (IAT Level II minimum). In addition to IAT Level II certification or higher, an OS cert (such as VMWare VCTA, MS Server Fundamentals, Linux Server Admin) will be required to obtain an elevated privilege account necessary for this role.
  • Knowledge and skill in creating/using PowerShell scripting language.
  • Experience using Horizon View.
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret Clearance.
