Job Description
POSITION GOAL
To operate a safe, efficient and customer focused fuel delivery service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. JOB DUTIES
Staff Management/Training: Assist with hiring, training, evaluate and retain qualified staff that can exhibit customer service abilities naturally. Responsible for drivers and terminal fleet.
  • Manage Smart truck dispatch system.
  • Assist terminal Manager with hiring process for drivers.
  • Maintain a schedule for renewals of certificates, security passes and licenses.
  • Maintain a general rapport with drivers and constantly assess and communicate their level of satisfaction to the Terminal Manager.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with a focus on Safety, customer service skills, Product knowledge and operational issues with a focus on "continual improvement" of our employees and our operations.

Vehicle Safety/ Presentation: Maintain vehicles to appropriate standards that present a strong Corporate Image and properly document all maintenance
  • Regularly inspect all vehicles. Insure all components are in good repair, ie cab, pumping compartment, ect.
  • Take out of service any equipment that is potentially unsafe or does not meet regulatory standards, inform Terminal Manager and schedule appropriate repair.

Plant Safety/ Presentation: Assist in overseeing housekeeping of the warehouse, office and building exterior are maintained to an appropriate standard.
  • Assign tasks to staff that keep the facility and grounds looking clean and organized.
  • Make recommendations for new purchases and improvements to bring the image of the plant to the expected Corporate Image.

Dispatch/Office: Maintain Smart Truck communication.
Primary person for answering the phone, on the first ring and the primary person to handle walk-in customers.
  • Document the dispatch procedures for the drivers, dispatcher and others. Assure that all drivers and dispatchers understand and comply with the dispatch procedures.
  • Support the process of verifying the credit status of customers before fuel delivery.
  • Measure the effectiveness of the dispatch process by at least recording the weekly:
    • Number of complaints, call backs, and run outs.
    • Driver overtime

Inventory: Reconcile all sales and gallons to daily driver logs.
  • Tally and reconcile the daily driver logs.
  • Ensure completeness of driver logs and daily paperwork.

D. ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: High School.
  • Experience: Basic computer skills, general knowledge of fuel terminal procedures and fork lift experience. Must be a good communicator with the ability to multi-task, proven high level of customer service and management of personnel.
  • Licensure/Certification: CDL and Hazmat/TWIC required within 6 months from hire date.
  • Other Qualifications: Must be able to work cooperatively with others and communicate in writing and verbally effectively with others. Must be able to present themselves as an example of Shoreside Petroleum's quality, professionalism and Corporate Image.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
  • English Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
