Junior Petroleum Inspector

Position Summary

The Junior Petroleum Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections and tests of various petroleum products to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining product quality and safety throughout our operations. This entry-level position provides a valuable opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in the oil and gas sector.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Under supervision, responsible for measuring, gauging, and recording temperatures of various materials in shore tanks, as well as collecting samples from barges.
  • Conduct field calculations in accordance with company guidelines and American Petroleum Institute (API) standards.
  • Collect, label, and deliver samples to the laboratory promptly, in line with job requirements.
  • Document inspection findings and prepare comprehensive reports for management review.
  • Evaluate equipment, processes, and safety measures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the inspector trainer to identify opportunities for improvement and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
  • All other job duties as defined.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of safety regulations and quality control processes in petroleum operations.
  • Strong math comprehension skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in various outdoor environments and adhere to safety protocols.

Fitness for Duty – Physical Demands

  • Workday may consist of 8-12 hours.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a Fit for Duty test, ensuring they are physically capable of performing job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
