Building Operations Manager
This positionis responsible formanaging the day-to-day operations of the assigned buildings and providing support for all area-related events. This includes instructing and working with all employees while performing allbuildingoperation functions and all event setups that are scheduled in the buildings. This positionis responsible forthe training of employees on proper safety protocols and use of equipment and chemicalsestablishedfor the needs of the area. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, time management, accountability, safety, cleanliness, customer service and following directions from upper management, and other reasonable responsibilities that may be assigned.
Assigned Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays during Spring/Summer
Assigned Location: Helaman Halls On-Campus Housing - Female Resident Hall-During Fall/Winter you and your team of students will keep bathrooms and other common areas clean for the student residents and during the Spring/Summer we house various summer camps hosted at the University. This involves a weekly Saturday cleaning turn around and as such you will be required to help occasionally on these Saturdays from April-August.
**Due to the nature of this position being over a female resident hall, we will only accept female applicants.
Whatyou'lldo in this position:

Operations and Building Care Standards

  • Provide leadership, training, andjoboversight to all employees.
  • Manage the cleanliness of assigned buildings by working with -time, part-time employees, and student employees

Administration, Communication, and Customer Relations

  • Determineneeds andsubmitwork orders for the buildings such as painting,electrical, heating, air conditioning, plumbing etc. and follow up to ensure that issues are addressedin a timely manner.
  • Keep in contactwith patrons of the buildings todeterminecustomer satisfaction and take care of any concerns.

Leadership Support

  • Guide the development of student and non-student employees by working alongside them to teach, train, and mentor.
  • Communicate, encourage, and hold accountable all student and non-student employeesregardingtheirjobresponsibilities.

Seek Personal and Professional Development

  • Attend seminars,workshopsand conferences whenappropriate toimprovejoband leadership skills.
  • Engage in personal study of administrative and skill development materials.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required:
  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Female applicant - due to nature of this position being over a female resident hall
  • One year of professional experience in building operations or a similar industry (or current BYU Building Operations Manager).
Physical Exam and Lift Test Required
Physical Effort
  • Moderate - Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions. (Elaborate below)

  • Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters (Elaborate below)

Physical Requirements
  • Perform tasks such as lifting tables, chairs, riser stairs, climbing ladders for cleaning, changing light bulbs, etc. for 6-8 hours per day. Closed-toe shoes and gloves are recommended for safety
  • Participate in snow removal as needed. Appropriate cold-weather gear is recommended, including a hat, gloves, boots, layered clothing, and sunscreen
  • Operate equipment such as vacuums, running floor machines, buffers, genie lift, and loaders asrequired. Eye and hearing protection, closed-toe shoes, and gloves are recommended
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals. Eye protection, closed-toe shoes, and gloves arerequired
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3yearsbuilding care experience
  • 1 yearsupervisory experience

Pay Grade: 49

Typical Starting Pay:

$22.50 to $29.25/hourly

$47,500 to $61,500 annually

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate's job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
