Job description

The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for receiving incoming materials, preparing outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting production operations in a manufacturing and powder coating environment. This position ensures materials and finished products are moved safely, accurately, and efficiently throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify materials against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
  • Unload and load trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Pick, stage, package, label, and prepare products for customer shipment.
  • Complete and maintain shipping and receiving documentation accurately.
  • Transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transactions and inventory control practices.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse, storage, and shipping areas.
  • Follow customer-specific packaging and shipping requirements.
  • Adhere to all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Support production needs and assist in other departments as required.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of shipping and receiving experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory systems, scanners, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, work orders, and shipping documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly works in a production and shop environment with noise, dust and varying temperature.
  • Frequent standing and walking for extended periods. 
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift, carry or move items and equipment parts up to 50 pounds.
  • Works around moving machinery and must follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime or flexible hours as needed to support production and customer requirements.
