Job description

The Shipping Receiving Specialist is responsible for supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse, including receiving incoming shipments, preparing and processing outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and performing general warehouse duties.

This position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The employee will handle company products, equipment, parts, and materials while ensuring inventory accuracy, proper documentation, safe material handling, and an organized warehouse environment.


Shipping & Receiving

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify items against purchase orders, packing slips, and other receiving documentation.
  • Pick, pack, stage, and prepare customer orders, transfers, equipment, and materials for shipment.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for correct quantities, products, serial numbers, and destination information.
  • Prepare shipping documentation, labels, packing slips, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
  • Ensure products are properly packaged and secured to minimize damage during transportation.


Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure physical inventory matches the company's inventory system.
  • Perform inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and other inventory movements.
  • Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Research and report inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain proper organization and labeling of warehouse inventory.
  • Follow established inventory control procedures to help prevent loss, damage, and inaccurate inventory balances.


General Warehouse Duties

  • Perform general warehouse duties as assigned, including picking, packing, stocking, staging, organizing, moving, and storing products and materials.
  • Assist with order fulfillment and preparation of equipment for customer orders, projects, demonstrations, trade shows, or internal transfers.
  • Move products and materials safely throughout the warehouse using appropriate material-handling equipment.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas, aisles, shipping/receiving areas, and storage locations.
  • Break down boxes, remove packaging materials, dispose of waste, and perform general warehouse housekeeping.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or workplace incidents.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous warehouse, shipping/receiving, logistics, or inventory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with FedEx, UPS, LTL freight, or other shipping systems preferred.
  • Ability to accurately count, identify, organize, and document products and materials.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn company inventory and shipping systems.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Forklift or material-handling equipment experience is preferred; company training/certification may be provided as applicable.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment.
