SUMMARY

This job requires the identification, safe handling and accurate storage, and placement of product following inspection. Operator must coordinate with Quality Assurance technicians to allow for timely movement of production into inventory after inspection. Must follow establish practices for safe, organized, and orderly storage of product. Knowledge of yard layout, products, production levels, and forklift operation is essential. Development of skills for assessing load parameters allowing the safe, accurate, and efficient placement of finished product on flatbed trailers to insure maximum loading, while maintaining stable transport properties is also required. Individual will also assist other shipping personnel with load preparation, inventory counts, inventory status assessment, unloading raw materials and other duties as required by the Shipping Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform the primary thinking encompassed by this job description.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Must be safety conscious, and able to work safely in fast paced environment.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for employees, customers & carriers.
  • Operate an industrial forklift to lift, stack, or tier products for storage yard and warehouse operations.
  • Performs all duties required by Shipping Operator
  • Performs all duties with minimal supervision. Must be self-motivated.
  • Perform cycle counts in accordance with established procedures.
  • Reports and corrects any identified sub-standards products and practices, including identification of sun faded product.
  • Sets an exemplary example for other Shipping Operators to follow as to safe work habits, positive attitude, and focus on company goals.
  • Provides training and assistance to other Shipping Operators.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory.
  • Know product descriptions, sizes, markings, codes and packaging.
  • Load outbound shipments safely and accurately onto trailers for shipment.
  • Unload inbound shipments safely.
  • Responsible for safe and proper product storage.
  • Fill out Pick Lists for Load Checking & Ship Confirmation.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English. Communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work well with operators, shift leaders an office personnel. Shares information with co-workers as needed.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, add and subtract two-digit numbers, plus use calculator. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
