Job description

Material Handler - OSO

The material handler will load and unload delivery trucks, pull materials from shelves, and move items to production. They will ensure production areas are fully stocked and have the materials they need to meet production schedules.

In this role, you will:

  • Resolve any material needs, solving material problems, inventory control issues as they arise, and cycle counting
  • Read production orders, placards, and material specifications
  • Perform warehouse control, inventory control and related duties
  • Communicate with various departments to ensure the proper flow of work and materials
  • Load and unload shelves using forklifts and other moving equipment
  • Organize and clean shop and equipment
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Prepare pallets for shipping
  • Sort and place raw material and finished goods in specific locations while maintaining system integrity
  • Repair pallets
  • Perform other basic manufacturing and shop duties as required

Required and preferred abilities:

  • 2-3 years' experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory control
  • Operating a forklift, pallet jack, and overhead crane
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of math skills
  • Mechanically inclined with basic understanding of machinery and hand tools

Work environment and physical requirements:

  • Occasionally exposed to fumes associated with cleaning products dust and warehouse conditions
  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
