We are the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed concrete (PC) strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement, and standard welded wire reinforcement for concrete reinforcement applications. The company operates eleven manufacturing facilities in nine states.
About You
The person we are looking for will need to:
  • Have knowledge of safety equipment and safety procedures for day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping/neat work area while loading and unloading material.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.
  • Safely operate equipment in a close-quarter environment with various materials, trucks, and employees present.
  • Stage raw material (steel rod) at appropriate machines.
  • Move, weigh, and stage finished product.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Visually check quality of finished product
  • Must possess a high attention to detail, be able to work closely with production employees, and train others as needed
Position Snapshot
An Insteel Wire Products Material Handler needs to be comfortable moving materials (such as raw materials, finished product, etc.) in tight high traffic areas using a forklift. Will work daily to ensure all tasks are completed with risk lowered to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM to accomplish no injuries, illness or negative impact to employees, property, the environment or the community.
Requirements and Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions; Ability to perform simple arithmetic involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable
  • A minimum of two (2) years' forklift experience required.
