Purpose:

At DASI, the role of the Shipper Inspector โ€“ Level 1 is to ensure that outgoing shipments are adequately packaged/preserved and meet Customer and/or DASI delivery requirements

Key accountabilities:

  • Pack & Ship merchandise according to established procedures.
  • Operate a computer to process reports on a daily basis.ย 
  • Ensure all parts are packaged properly, so no damage occurs during shipping.
  • Check customer requirements or ATA SPEC 300 for special packaging sequence.
  • Perform the invoicing function.
  • Image all documents pertaining to each sales order into the system.
  • Process air waybills and related shipping documentation and check for accuracy.
  • Determine which shipping company for use when specific company not requested by customers.
  • Schedule pickups as required.
  • Ensure all documentation is packaged with parts before shipping.
  • Contact internal and external customers for shipping related issues when necessary.
  • Responsible for other special projects or duties ass assigned by the Shipping Lead.
  • Keep updated on FAR changes as applicable.
  • Adhere to warehouse cleanliness program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Key skills and competences:
  • Meet productivity, quality, safety, and attendance requirements, including overtime as required.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Demonstrates pride in own work.
  • Can continuously lift up to 75 pounds and be able to operate warehouse vehicles and material handling equipment.
  • Can operate computerized scanning equipment.
  • Can work in a team environment.

Experience and qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or GED- Required.
  • Experience with domestic and international regulations.ย ย ย 
  • Knowledge of carrier computer systems such as FedEX, UPS, BAX, EMERY, etc.,
  • Haz Mat training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and associated software (i.e. inventory management, Ship station and MS Office)
  • Previous interactions with LEAN or six sigma processes or other continuous improvement approaches are ideal.
