Job description

Shipping Floor Hand
  1. Job Summary
    1. The Shipping Floor Hand position is responsible for performing duties within the logistics department of South Georgia Pecan Company. This position is to ensure products are shipped and received correctly, safely, and efficiently to customers and from Vendors. Product Labeling is a big part of this position and attention to detail is a must.
  1. Reports
    1. Shipping Floor Hand reports to the Shipping Lead, Shipping Manager, and Logistics Manager
  1. Responsibilities โ€“ include but are not limited to the following:
    1. The objective of the position is to assist with shipping product and receiving goods for South Georgia Pecan Co.
    2. Responsible for the receiving product and shipping product using our Inventory Software.
    3. Responsible labeling of products being shipped and/or received. Must have a good understanding of our products
    4. Responsible for assisting with inspecting trucks prior to loading to ensure food safety standards are met.
    5. Responsible for FIFO processes throughout the production areas
    6. Responsible for securing pallets of product through wrapping with stretch film and pallet covers and load locks
    7. Responsible for ensuring paperwork for accounting, food safety records, and production records are properly documented.
  2. Cleaning Responsibilities - Include but are not limited to the following:
    1. Areas in and around the finished goods freezer should remain clean and organized. If a spill occurs, clean it up and place it in the correct floor sweep bin. (green)
    2. Allergens are stored in this area therefore cross contamination precautions must be applied to ensure food safety.
    3. Reach Lifts, Ladders, etc. must be clean and sanitary.
    4. Collaborate with Sanitation on a cleaning schedule for floors, racking, etc.
    5. Broken pallets, torn sacks, torn boxes must be replaced immediately.
    6. Framework, catwalk, and stairs must be kept clean and free of debris.
    7. Floor sweep bins must be emptied every day, work with Sanitation on this.
    8. Assist in any cleaning needed in the Shipping, Receiving, plant areas as needed.
    9. Supply Areas, Clean, Neat and stored safely per SQF requirements.
  1. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) โ€“ GMPโ€™s are to be followed while working. Remember, you are working in a food plant, and food safety is a top concern for South Georgia Pecan Company.
    1. Hairnets and beard coverings are to be worn in production areas, and any areas product is stored and/or staged.
    2. Wash and Sanitize hands before returning to work from the bathroom, breaks, lunch, or before entering the plant from outside.
    3. No Eating or Drinking in production areas.
    4. No Dipping, Chewing Tobacco, Smoking, or Chewing Gum within the plant.
    5. No Jewelry within the plant. (Except for medical I.D. bracelets and smooth wedding bands without stones).
    6. No false fingernails or eyelashes.
    7. No fingernail polish or paint.
    8. No open-toed shoes. Slip Resistant soles are mandatory
    9. No Hats
    10. Exercise good hygiene.
    11. If working in production areas, you must have a clean uniform/smock. All contractors must wear company-issue smocks. Color code rules apply to smocks within the production areas.
    12. No open sores on exposed skin in production areas.
    13. If sick, please notify management or supervisor and do not enter a production area.
    14. Ensure production equipment is operating properly and no parts are missing.
    15. Ensure product tools are properly stored, cleaned and sanitized prior to and after each break, lunch, and shift.
    16. Ensure Good Housekeeping practices are applied.
    17. Ensure company approved eye protection are always worn.
    18. Ensure company approved gloves are always worn when handling raw product
  1. Food Safety and Quality - All employees are responsible for food safety and quality.
    1. Employees are responsible for reporting any food safety and quality problems to their supervisor, production manager and/or plant manager.
    2. Employees are responsible for supporting the SQF system.
