Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Works with the Shipping Clerk with regard to unloading and loading trailers, fulfilling orders, wrapping pallets, stacking, labeling, audits, and other related activities as they pertain to warehousing and fulfilling customer orders.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:


  • Assist in performing the shipping and receiving operation in a consistent manner as instructed in the training program.
  • Responsible for maintaining the procedures concerning operation unless the training program is changed and properly recorded concerning procedure.
  • Load and unload trailers safely in accordance with defined SCT safety policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill customer orders with the use of an RF handheld.
  • Back-up the Shipping Clerk.
  • Load the trailer accurately concerning proper sequence, products, and weight distribution as directed.
  • Operate stand-up forklift or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse and in the transfer process.
  • Unload all returned finished goods and move them to the damaged and return area.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly, including articles that fall outside in the daily loading and unloading, primarily focusing on the shipping and staging area.
  • Report any mechanical problems with equipment or any safety hazards in the performance of your duties.
  • Maintain order in the manufacturing and warehouse storing areas in the performance of your duties.
  • Unload all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors, inspect quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments, and record paperwork.
  • Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
  • Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment.
  • May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company polices.
  • Routine housekeeping to be performed daily in adherence to company policy and warehouse needs.


QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
