Shift Supervisor / Power Plant Operations Supervisor

Reading, MA

$150K - $165K

A Shift Supervisor is required to lead safe, compliant and efficient operations within a power generation facility. This full-time role is responsible for supervising operations personnel, maintaining high safety and environmental standards, and ensuring the facility operates effectively during assigned shifts.

This opportunity is suited to an experienced power plant professional with strong operational leadership skills, knowledge of steam generating power plant operations, and experience supporting safe, reliable facility performance.

The Shift Supervisor / Power Plant Operations Supervisor Role:

  • Lead and supervise operations personnel to ensure the facility is operated safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures and environmental standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements.
  • Train shift personnel on operating procedures, equipment use and safety practices.
  • Administer and enforce safety processes including lockout/tagout, confined space entry and welding/cutting permits.
  • Complete operational reporting, documentation, timesheet approvals and administrative duties as required.
  • Maintain accurate facility logs covering operations, activities and events.
  • Carry out regular plant inspections to monitor equipment operation, materials handling, security, cleanliness and compliance.
  • Create maintenance requests through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying corrective actions to improve safety and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with identifying operational problems.
  • Operate and support the use of mobile equipment including forklifts, manlifts and skid steer-type loaders.
  • Act as the Plant Manager’s representative when required.

Shift Supervisor / Power Plant Operations Supervisor Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience working in a power plant environment as a Plant Operator or comparable position, or equivalent related experience including power plant training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of steam generating power plant operations and controls.
  • Skills and experience sufficient to acquire an ASME QRO Provisional licence.
  • Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineers licence required for Massachusetts facilities.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical information including safety procedures, operating instructions and maintenance documentation.
  • Working knowledge of PC operations.
  • Ability to work overtime, unscheduled hours as required and participate in on-call duties.
  • Flexibility to work a swing/rotating shift pattern.
