What are shell scripts?

Shell scripts are text files containing a series of commands that are executed by a Unix or Linux shell, such as Bash, Zsh, or Sh. They automate repetitive tasks, manage system operations, and can combine multiple commands into a single executable program. Shell scripts are commonly used for system administration, data processing, and application deployment, making them a powerful tool for developers and IT professionals. By using shell scripts, users can save time and reduce errors in complex workflows.

Familiarity with version control systems like Git, automation tools, and text editors such as Vim or Nano is essential. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication enable you to write efficient scripts and collaborate with IT teams. These skills ensure smooth automation of system tasks, improved productivity, and reliable system operations.
