Job description

Title: Senior AWS DevOps Architect

Location: Houston, TX (100% Onsite)
Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior (Level III) DevOps Architect to design, build, automate, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure supporting AI, Data Science, and application engineering workloads.

This role will work closely with Platform Engineering, DevOps, and DataOps teams to drive infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD modernization, security/compliance automation, and cloud platform engineering initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have deep AWS expertise and strong hands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, GitHub/GitLab, Linux, Python, and Shell scripting.

Key Responsibilities

Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation across multi-account AWS environments.

Build, improve, automate, and shift-left CI/CD pipelines.

Automate compliance and security controls at the infrastructure and code repository levels.

Develop Terraform-based automation integrating enterprise compliance requirements into CI/CD pipelines.

Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Terraform, Python, and Shell scripting.

Support deployments across containerized environments, Kubernetes clusters, and data platforms.

Troubleshoot complex pipelines spanning multi-cloud, on-premises, and diverse technology platforms.

Apply cloud networking, security, and architecture best practices.

Respond to incidents and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues.

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications

15+ years of AWS DevOps / Platform Engineering experience

5+ years of Terraform and/or CloudFormation

5+ years supporting Kubernetes and containerized environments

5+ years of Python, Bash, Shell, or similar scripting/programming

5+ years of Linux/Unix experience

5+ years with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar code repositories

3+ years of CI/CD experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or similar

Strong understanding of AWS architecture, cloud networking, security, and compliance

Strong troubleshooting and incident-response skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

AWS certification, particularly an architecture-focused certification

Experience automating security/compliance controls within CI/CD pipelines

Experience with multi-account AWS environments

Experience supporting AI, Data Science, or other data-intensive workloads

Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid/on-premises environments

Top Priorities

The immediate focus of this position will be:

Automating compliance integrations into CI/CD pipelines

Using Terraform to integrate with enterprise compliance tooling

Automating IaC using Terraform, Python, and Shell
