What does a SharePoint Intranet Designer do?

A SharePoint Intranet Designer is responsible for creating, customizing, and managing internal websites (intranets) using Microsoft SharePoint. They work with organizations to design user-friendly and visually appealing portals that help employees access resources, collaborate, and share information efficiently. This role involves understanding business needs, structuring site navigation, applying branding, and ensuring security and permissions are properly set. To thrive as a SharePoint Intranet Designer, you need expertise in SharePoint site design, information architecture, and user experience (UX) principles, often supported by a degree in IT or a related field. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 apps, SharePoint Designer, Power Platform, and relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Associate are typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills help you collaborate effectively with stakeholders and translate business needs into intuitive designs. These skills ensure the creation of functional, engaging, and efficient intranet solutions that support organizational productivity and user adoption.
