Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Are you currently in school or about to graduate with a background in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, automotive, or industrial technology? Cold Jet is looking for a motivated Junior Service Technician to join our team as a co-op, intern, or entry-level hire. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our advanced dry ice blasting systems alongside experienced technicians — building real-world skills that translate directly into a long-term career in industrial service.

Cold Jet values practical, hands-on experience over traditional four-year degrees. We welcome students and recent graduates from technical schools, community colleges, apprenticeship programs, or military technical training who are eager to learn in a stable, advanced technical environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Technical Service & Equipment Support

  • Assist senior technicians with in-shop diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Learn to troubleshoot integrated control systems and mechanical assemblies under supervision
  • Support equipment installations, including introductory exposure to automated or robotic system integration
  • Shadow the use of remote diagnostics and connected tools during troubleshooting and maintenance

Service Operations

  • Help manage parts inventory to support timely, efficient repairs
  • Practice maintaining accurate service records and documentation
  • Support day-to-day shop operations and gain exposure to vendor coordination

Customer Support & Learning

  • Observe and assist with technical guidance provided to customers on equipment operation
  • Build foundational skills for customer relationships and technical communication
  • Learn how field feedback is communicated to Engineering and Product teams
  • Participate in occasional local support visits as skills develop (travel is limited for this role)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a technical/vocational program in HVAC, automotive, industrial maintenance, electronics, or a related field — OR military technical training
  • No prior professional experience required; internship, co-op, part-time, or hands-on coursework experience is a plus
  • A genuine interest in mechanical and electrical systems, with a willingness to learn by doing
  • Basic ability to read or learn to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Comfort with, or eagerness to learn, basic diagnostic tools such as voltmeters
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Exposure to PLCs or electrical control systems through coursework or projects
  • Familiarity with sensors, connected equipment, or diagnostic software
  • Basic machining or fabrication experience
  • Any experience with CRM or ERP systems

WHY START YOUR CAREER AT COLD JET

  • Direct mentorship from experienced Service Technicians
  • Hands-on training on advanced, real-world industrial equipment — not just theory
  • A clear path to grow into a full-time Service Technician role
  • Exposure to cutting-edge diagnostic tools, connected equipment, and remote service technology
  • A supportive, team-oriented environment that values practical skills and initiative
