The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing specialized mental health care to individuals struggling with the effects of trauma, making a profound impact on their recovery journeys.

About the Organization

At Chat and Change Counseling, we are committed to fostering a safe, warm, and supportive environment for those affected by trauma. Our team is focused on treating conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. We utilize evidence-based practices grounded in empathy and understanding, ensuring that our clients receive comprehensive care tailored to their unique experiences.

Work Environment

This position allows for a flexible work schedule through our telehealth platform, offering you the opportunity to deliver care from the comfort of your own home. As a remote therapist, you will connect with clients using secure video conferencing tools, ensuring a seamless therapeutic experience that respects confidentiality and promotes healing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake assessments and comprehensive trauma evaluations to accurately assess each client's unique history and treatment needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on fostering trauma recovery and building resilience.
  • Utilize and deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), ensuring a personalized approach for each client.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, guiding clients in processing trauma, developing effective coping strategies, and promoting their healing journey.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, to ensure an integrated approach to client care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support, equipping clients with the tools needed to manage trauma-related emergencies.
  • Educate clients and their families about trauma responses and coping mechanisms, enhancing their understanding of available resources.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards to ensure quality care and accountability.
  • Engage in regular case consultations and team meetings, contributing insights and staying current with best practices in trauma-informed care.
  • Continuously update your knowledge of research and innovations in trauma therapy, enriching your practice and enhancing client outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be working with clients who have experienced various forms of trauma, including but not limited to emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. You will play a critical role in helping these individuals navigate their emotional responses and work towards recovery in a safe and nurturing environment.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Active licensure as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in New Jersey.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, characterized by a compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related technology necessary for telehealth practice.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a mental health setting, ideally working with trauma survivors.
  • Experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies, highlighting the capacity to engage clients effectively in their healing process.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations, showcasing effective crisis management skills.
Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Health and wellness benefits.
  • Retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage to ensure peace of mind.
  • Continuous education opportunities to support professional growth.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment where your contributions are valued.
