At Dmitriy & Co, part of the RH ecosystem, we are shaping the future of couture upholstery. With roots that trace back three generations to the lower east side of Manhattan, we've been celebrating and elevating the craft of upholstery through timeless and iconic designs that pay homage to an age-old artisanal craft.
RH is seeking a Sewing Associate to join our Dmitriy & Co manufacturing location in Downey, CA. This role requires exceptional sewing technical expertise and a true passion for craftsmanship. The Sewing Associate will play a key part in bringing to life upholstery pieces that embody uncompromising standards of quality and design. As a valued member of our team, you will refine your skills, collaborate with visionary partners, and contribute to our enduring legacy of artistry and excellence.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately review and follow purchase orders, providing timely progress updates to ensuring workflow efficiency
  • Operate industrial sewing machines including single needle, double needle and overlock
  • Sew upholstery material components and perform adjustments as required with precision, ensuring each piece reflects our commitment to exceptional quality
  • Select supplies and threads according to specifications or color of material
  • Steam and press fabrics as required
  • Expertly utilize hand tools and equipment, including sewing machines, steamers, scissors, irons, to sew, assemble and finish components for upholstery pieces with precision
  • Safely handle fabric and completed assembled components, utilizing assistance when appropriate to maintain both safety and craftsmanship integrity
  • Contribute to specialty projects, and other tasks as needed

OUR REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years of experience operating industrial sewing machines in furniture production, sewing, or a related field
  • Proficiency in sewing upholstery fabrics and material components
  • Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
  • Strong time management and communication skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented approach
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasionally lift and/or move items up to 35 pounds using proper equipment and safety procedures
  • Frequent period of prolonged sitting with occasional standing and walking periods throughout the workday
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to grasp, handle, and assemble materials and products
  • Frequent bending, twist, reach, and perform similar physical movements as required by job duties
  • Perform repetitive motions and tasks as needed
  • Distinguish colors, shades, and brightness where required
