Job description

Position Title: Engineering Technician
Department: Manufacturing/Operations
Reports To: Area Manager
FLSA Status: Non - Exempt
Prepared By: Human Resources Director
Approved By: V.P. Human Resources

Summary:
Develops manufacturing techniques and processes for new and existing products and systems to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. Leads MD area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Full use of Exenta
Describe and modify product operations for production. Assist trainers, supervisors, and operators.
Create manufacturing reports of new products and flowcharts.
Create machine and attachment reports of new products.
Create operation sequence of new products. Manage method procedures for new styles.
Design, create, and cut templates to assist production. Maintain template record log up to date
Cut and distribute patterns to the quality assurance department for inspection purposes. Maintain an up-to-date pattern record log.
Direct, lead, and support trainers in creating new products, including interpreting purchase descriptions, sample analysis, and the planning and construction process.
Maintain the sample record log to date.
Advise and train production personnel for new and existing lines. Resolve possible pattern problems according to purchase descriptions and product specifications.
Assist trainers, supervisors, and operators with product descriptions and pattern analysis to introduce new ensemble styles and improve existing techniques.
Provide a format to review and take measurements of the samples to the quality inspectors
Support engineering on purchase descriptions, patterns, and existing product construction.
Leads all sewing Engineering Updates and Log
Cut on a laser machine for patterns (Light Burn and Adobe Illustrator).
Performs other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:
Previous experience in Engineering functions in a sewing/apparel production environment is preferred.
Knowledge of garment construction in various designs and styles, such as pants, coats, and jackets, is preferred.
A Technical Degree is required.

Language Skills: Read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Spanish is a plus but not required.

Mathematical Skills: Must have advanced Mathematical skills in fractions, percentages, measurements, time studies, algebraic formulas, geometry, and calculus.
