OverviewThe Sewer & Water Lead Installer leads a field crew performing residential sewer and water line repairs, replacements, and installations. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards while providing excellent customer service to homeowners.

Responsibilities

What Will I Do?

  • Lead a crew performing residential sewer and water line repairs, replacements, and installations
  • Install, replace, and repair residential sewer and water service lines
  • Locate underground utilities and ensure safe excavation and trenching practices are followed
  • Coordinate daily job site activities and assign work to crew members
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding project scope, progress, and timelines
  • Read job layouts, project specifications, and site plans to ensure proper installation standards are met
  • Interpret and execute project scopes while adapting to changing field conditions and unforeseen challenges
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards
  • Accurately document labor hours, materials used, and project progress
  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, and job sites in a clean and safe condition
  • Train, coach, and mentor Sewer Install Apprentices and other field personnel on installation techniques, safety procedures, and job responsibilities
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • Be available to work overtime, early mornings, weekends, and extended hours as needed based on workload, emergency service needs, and weather conditions
Qualifications

Do I Have What it Takes?

  • 2-3+ years of residential plumbing/installation experience with a plumbing, sewer, or underground utility company
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills
  • Experience operating excavators, trenchers, or other construction equipment
  • Understanding of trench safety, utility locating, and OSHA regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
