Job Summary & Expectations: 


Set-Up Technicians' need to have a diverse skill set. 

They need to understand all the different equipment and know how to set them up and program. 

They need to be able to make tooling adjustments for part fit up and gage fit. 

Technicians' must have a good understanding of welding and most importantly, work well with customers and have flexibility with hours for runoffs and being available for trips.

The expectations for the setup department is to be able to handle these situations along with being a team player and recognizing when the need arises to work more hours and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Whether it's getting ready for a runoff or wrapping one up. It might be prepping for a trip or the trip itself. Be as efficient with your time as possible.

Technicians' are self-motivated, dependable, good communicators, multi-taskers with the mindset to find ways to get things done and have a great work ethic.


 Work Performed:  

  • Assembly of tooling and verification of functionality
  • Adjustments and modifications of tooling to fit customer parts
  • Operation of customer supplied equipment, gauges, leak testers, etc.
  • Set up and commission equipment including but not limited to manual cells, rotary equipment, robotic cells, leak testers, gauges, and other custom equipment.
  • Programming of multiple robot brands. Including but not limited to Yaskawa, ABB, Fanuc, Kuka, Panasonic, Kawasaki, Universal Robots
  • Weld development via manual welding or robot. Power supplies may include Miller, Lincoln, SKS, Fronius
  • Weld quality testing, weld cut verification
  • Work with all internal departments to create solutions and ensure good communication
  • Work on several projects simultaneously
  • Flexible work schedule to cover daily tasks, runoffs and service trips
  • Build relationships with vendors and customers
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-performing, and sometimes unpredictable environment

Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Project management skills

  • Machining, electrical, or mechanical background
  • Robot programming is helpful but not mandatory
  • Welding experience is helpful but not mandatory

  • Ability to learn quickly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible work schedule to meet Melton's and our customers' needs for runoffs and service trips

 Qualifications:  

  • Associate's degree in Machine Shop Technology or a minimum of two years' machine shop experience.
  • Strong mechanical background
  • Robotic background
  • Electrical background 

 Physical Requirements: 

  • Standing for extended periods
  • Lifting of equipment and/or tooling weighting up to 40lbs
  • Working a minimum of 40 hours per week. 50-55 when workloads exist
  • Travel throughout North America is required via automobile and air travel. This includes Canada and Mexico up to but not limited to 60 days a year once established in the department.
