Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implementย Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with special education best practices.
  2. Provide directย academic and behavioral support to transition students with disabilities in aย transition room setting and/orย inclusive general education environments.
  3. Useย evidence-based instructional strategies to support student learning in core academic areas.
  4. Collaborate withย general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure student success.
  5. Conductย ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  6. Maintainย accurate and compliant documentation of student services, progress, and IEP implementation.
  7. Communicate regularly withย families to provide updates on student progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
  8. Supportย student transition planning, including goal-setting for academic and post-secondary readiness.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Provideย direct instruction in small groups, one-on-one settings, or pushed into general education classrooms based on student needs.
  2. Implement and supportย positive behavior strategies aligned with students' IEP goals.
  3. Serve as aย case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with special education requirements.
  4. Provideย training and guidance to paraprofessionals supporting students with disabilities.
  5. Stay current onย best practices and legal requirements in special education.
  6. Know, interpret, and followย school district policies.ย 

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Understanding ofย transition curriculum and special education strategies.
  2. Ability toย differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  3. Strongย collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and staff.
  4. Proficiency inย IEP development, data collection, and progress monitoring.
  5. Experience withย behavior management and de-escalation strategies.
  6. Ability toย maintain professional composure while managing multiple responsibilities.
