Step into a role where your expertise shapes the future of transportation. At WSP, we're trusted to deliver some of Ontario's most significant infrastructure projects. As a Senior Bridge Engineer / Project Manager, you'll serve as a subject matter expert, lead multidisciplinary teams, influence strategic decisions, and ensure excellence on projects that define mobility for generations. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can provide technical leadership in the design and delivery of transportation projects, including highway, transit, rail and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and unique structures. Duties will also include analysis, design, inspection, evaluation, cost estimating, tender document preparation and construction support.

This is more than a job - it's your opportunity to leave a legacy by joining our Ontario Bridge Design Team.

Why This Role Matters:

  • Strategic Leadership: Be the trusted advisor for clients and internal teams, guiding projects from concept to completion.
  • High-Impact Projects: Work on major infrastructure initiatives - from multi-lane freeways to major rail projects.
  • Innovation Champion: Introduce cutting-edge design methodologies and digital solutions to keep WSP at the forefront of the industry.
  • Mentorship & Influence: Shape the next generation of engineers while collaborating with senior leaders across disciplines.

Your Impact:

  • Lead technical delivery of projects related to transportation structures, including conceptual, preliminary, and detail design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures
  • Oversee bridge inspections, assessments, rehabilitation design, quantities and construction cost estimates, review and validation of designs, drawings, and specifications, review of shop drawings and field reviews, and preparation of reports.
  • Oversee design schedules, budgets, and quality standards to ensure flawless execution
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic input and building long-term relationships
  • Drive proposal development and contribute to WSP's "Future Ready" initiatives
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation to contribute to team development
  • Lead the development and implementation of structural methodologies, standards, and innovation initiatives
  • Represent WSP in industry associations, technical committees, and client engagements
  • Drive thought leadership in structural engineering, contributing to publications, conferences, and strategic initiatives

The Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Professional Designation: Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Experience: 10 - 20 years of experience in bridge engineering. Minimum 5 years of experience within the transportation sector in Ontario, including 5 years of direct involvement in or managing pursuits/proposals for engineering design and/or construction services.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience leading MTO, municipal, and rail projects across Ontario including expertise in the planning, preliminary, and detail design, and construction of bridges and culverts of standard and complex geometry
    • Proven experience with Design-Build/P3 projects
    • Working level knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge design such as CSIBridge, MIDAS, etc.
    • Advanced knowledge of bridge design standards, codes, and manuals, including CAN/CSA-S6
    • Familiarity with MTO CPS/HICO, and BIM (assets)
    • Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expressions of Interest, and Statements of Qualifications
    • Strong seller-doer capable of generating work, creating long-term relationships, and delivering long-term value to clients for WSP with a strong commercial awareness.
