Job description

Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance team and overseeing all building and equipment maintenance for a high-volume bakery and restaurant operation. This position requires an experienced maintenance professional with a strong background in food production equipment, facility systems, preventive maintenance planning, and team leadership. The Maintenance Manager ensures equipment is operating safely and efficiently, repairs are completed in a timely manner, and the facility remains in compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, direct, and support maintenance staff. Hold maintenance team members accountable to performance standards, safety protocols, and work quality.
  • Assign daily work orders and make sure tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of maintenance personnel.
  • Working with the team, this is a hand-on role, not solely administrative.
  • Oversee and perform preventative and routine maintenance in bakery, kitchen, cafรฉ, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial bakery equipment including ovens, mixers, sheeters, proofers, refrigeration units, dish machines, and conveyors.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Work with controls and automation systems including PLCs, sensors, relays, and temperature control systems.
  • Use a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) or similar maintenance tracking system to:
  • Follow and enforce proper lockout/tagout and other OSHA-required safety procedures.
  • Maintain and manage spare parts inventory for critical equipment.
  • Coordinate external service providers, specialty technicians, and equipment vendors.
  • Maintain professional relationships with outside service partners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional maintenance experience, preferably in a bakery, commercial kitchen, food production, or manufacturing environment.
  • Supervisory or management experience is required (leading, directing, and evaluating maintenance staff).
  • Experience with controls systems (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, temperature controls).
  • Experience using work order or maintenance management systems.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs. and stand/walk for long periods.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based on business needs, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, or holidays as required.

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)

  • Electrical training or industrial electrical coursework
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) -Controls Systems Training
  • HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (Occupational Safety and Health 10-hour training or 30-hour training)
