Job description

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 545,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. We are the worldโ€™s first mesh energy infrastructure, uniting communities through resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

Torus has raised over $267 million from investors like Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ and Origin Ventures. The investments are helping to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors. This investor confidence reflects the strength of our team, technology as well as the scale of the problem we are solving.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports and strengthens our electrical grid, critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

The Maintenance Manager will lead the development of a scalable maintenance function that supports Torusโ€™s growing manufacturing operation. This role is intended to be a handsโ€‘on, working manager who can lead people while also bringing strong technical depth across industrial equipment, controls, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting. The person in this role will help build systems, improve uptime, strengthen accountability, and establish the maintenance discipline needed to support a highโ€‘value, complex equipment environment. This role is especially important as Torus continues standing up new machinery, refining PM programs, and reducing reactive maintenance across the shop.

Who You Are
  • You are a handsโ€‘on maintenance leader who is comfortable teaching, training, and building a team while also solving technical problems directly.
  • You bring structure, accountability, and urgency to maintenance operations without losing credibility on the shop floor.
  • You are highly organized and know how to build processes around preventative maintenance, downtime tracking, spare parts, and technician workflows.
  • You are comfortable operating in a complex, highโ€‘tech manufacturing environment with a wide range of machinery and vendor interfaces.
  • You can communicate clearly with technicians, vendors, and leadership, and you know how to drive followโ€‘through across all three.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the maintenance function across the facility, including team leadership, technical direction, training, and process development.
  • Serve as a working manager who can coach technicians while also directly supporting troubleshooting, diagnostics, and equipment recovery as needed.
  • Build and improve preventative maintenance programs, technician accountability, and maintenance workflows to reduce reactive work and unplanned downtime.
  • Oversee CMMS/CMS usage, including work tracking, maintenance planning, daily dashboards, and maintenance data accuracy.
  • Lead daily standups, root cause analysis efforts, downtime reviews, and ongoing maintenance performance improvement activities.
  • Manage critical spares strategy, inventory planning, max/min levels, and vendor relationships to support uptime and service readiness.
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance strategy across a diverse equipment base including laser systems, waterjets, sheet metal equipment, CNCโ€‘controlled machinery, and other complex industrial systems.
  • Partner with facilities, production, engineering, and vendors to support maintenance planning, service coordination, and longโ€‘term equipment reliability.
  • Help build and develop a department that can operate independently, solve problems proactively, and scale with the business.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of maintenance leadership or senior maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience as a handsโ€‘on maintenance leader, supervisor, or manager who can both lead people and contribute technically.
  • Strong PLC and controls experience across multiple platforms, including Allenโ€‘Bradley and Siemens.
  • Familiarity with controls concepts and languages including HMI/control narrative, structured text, function block, ladder logic, and diagnostics/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with maintenance systems such as CMMS/CMS platforms; eMaint or similar systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, downtime tracking, preventative maintenance planning, and OEEโ€‘related metrics.
  • Experience supporting complex, highโ€‘value industrial equipment in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and vendor management skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Studio 5000 and multiโ€‘platform PLC environments.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, tube laser, plate laser, waterjet, and other CNCโ€‘controlled fabrication equipment.
  • Experience building or scaling a maintenance department in a fastโ€‘growing manufacturing organization.
  • Familiarity with critical spares programs, vendorโ€‘managed inventory, and automated replenishment practices.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred but not required.
