Reporting to the Design Supervisor, this position will lead the quality verification of structural fabrication deliverables compression units, including skids, pedestals, steel structures, equipment supports, and high-pressure piping interfaces. This role ensures that all structural drawings, models, and calculation packages meet project specifications, industry codes, and fabrication/installation requirements. The ideal candidate has deep experience with packaged compression systems and understands the unique structural challenges of modularized oil & gas equipment.
What You Will Do
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Perform detailed checking of structural drawings, 3D models, and calculation packages for compressor skids, pedestals, pipe supports, platforms, stairs, ladder and equipment support structures.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and standards (AISC, API, ASCE, company specs, and client requirements).
  • Ensure structural designs properly account for dynamic loads, vibration, rotating equipment, thermal expansion, and transportation/installation loads.
  • Review and validate steel member sizing, connection details, baseplate designs, anchor bolt layouts, and lifting/rigging points.
  • Check alignment between structural calculations, design intent, and fabrication drawings.
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing information, or constructability issues; provide clear feedback to engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate with piping, electrical, and instrumentation teams to resolve interface issues and ensure accurate model integration.
  • Review vendor equipment drawings for structural impacts (compressors, coolers, vessels, scrubbers, pulsation bottles, etc.).
  • Support model reviews (3D CAD) and ensure structural components meet modularization and transport requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce structural checking standards, document control practices, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Mentor junior designers and support continuous improvement of checking workflows.

Education, Skills and Experience
Your education and experience include:
  • 10+ years of structural design/checking experience, preferably in oil & gas compression, gas processing, or modular equipment packages.
  • Strong understanding of skid design, compressor foundations, dynamic loading, and rotating equipment support requirements.
  • Proficiency with CAD and structural tools (AutoCAD, Cadworx, Naviswork).
  • Strong knowledge of AISC, API, ASCE, and relevant client/industry standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify subtle errors or inconsistencies.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with modular fabrication, shop detailing, and field installation practices.
