Job description

Job Overview

Server/ Waiter responsibilities include greeting and serving members/guest, providing detailed information on menus, and multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties.

Job Functions

  • Previous experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.
  • Take food and drink orders from members/guest accurately and with a positive attitude.
  • Engage with members/guest in a friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
  • Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Help members/guest select food and beverages by presenting menu; offering cocktails; suggesting courses; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate wines; answering food preparation questions
  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items, etc.
  • Maintain table setting by removing courses as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
  • Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
  • Basic understanding of beer, wine, spirits, and sake preferred.
  •  Where applicable, holds a state and/or local food handlers card.
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry preferred.
    • Have 2+years of serving or related experience in a full-service restaurant
    • Have a current food handler’s card and alcohol service certification as required by federal/state/local law
    • Meet minimum age for preparing and serving alcoholic beverages
    • Have basic knowledge of food and beverage service/hospitality
    • Have Excellent customer service skills
    • High school diploma or GED
