Servers often greet customers, answer questions about the menu, handle payments, and coordinate with kitchen staff to fulfill orders efficiently. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Many servers also rely on tips as a significant part of their income, making customer service skills especially important.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a server?

To thrive as a Server, you need strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and basic math abilities, typically with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and food safety certifications are commonly required. Effective time management, clear communication with kitchen staff and teammates, and keeping organized with orders are key to success. It also helps to stay calm under pressure and anticipate guests' needs to provide excellent service.
