Job description


Located in the Alaska Airlines Center, the Server position is responsible for delivering high quality services of food and beverage in a restaurant setting.
Responsibilities
  • Promptly greets guest and takes their order.
  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
  • Follows TAPS ID verification and training guidelines.
  • Ability to enter orders into POS (Point of Sale) Micros system.
  • Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Prepares drink order, to include wine and beer.
  • Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.
  • Serves food items to assigned tables in manner it was ordered.
  • Totals up bills and accepts payments or refers patron to Cashier.
  • Promptly clears and resets guest areas at conclusion of each course or service.
  • Ensures food stations are stocked according to checklists.
  • This position occasionally works Part-Time or On-Call.
  • Breaks down service stations and cleans equipment.
  • This position is not responsible for the supervision of staff.
  • Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to serve and prepare alcohol.
  • At least 1 year of server experience in the restaurant or food service industry.
  • Observes extensive grooming, customer service, and uniform/ dress standards.
  • Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.

Preferences
  • Municipality of Alaska Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
  • Must have Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) certification; or have been formally trained in alcohol management/serving.

Description of environment: This is an industrial kitchen located in a restaurant setting.
Physical requirements: Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, stoop, kneel, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift. Infrequently required to sit, crouch or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35lbs
