Job Description: Server at Mark’s Feed Store

Position Title: Server
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant Manager

Position Overview:

The Server at Mark’s Feed Store plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests. This position is responsible for taking customer orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring that guests have a positive and memorable experience. Servers are expected to work efficiently, provide high-quality customer service, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. The Server also supports the overall operations of the restaurant by working collaboratively with other team members, including kitchen and management staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Service:

    • Greet guests warmly and promptly as they arrive at the restaurant.

    • Present the menu, explain specials, and answer any questions about the menu or ingredients.

    • Take accurate food and drink orders, ensuring that all details are noted and communicated to the kitchen.

    • Deliver food and beverages to the correct table in a timely and professional manner.

    • Provide attentive and friendly service throughout the meal, ensuring that guests’ needs are met and they are satisfied with their experience.

    • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and requests with professionalism, offering solutions or escalating to management as needed.

  2. Food & Beverage Knowledge:

    • Maintain a strong knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information.

    • Upsell menu items, beverages, and special promotions to enhance the dining experience and contribute to sales goals.

    • Ensure that drinks, condiments, and side dishes are delivered to the table promptly and correctly.

    • Ensure all food and beverages are served in accordance with Mark’s Feed Store’s standards for presentation, temperature, and portion size.

  3. Order Accuracy & Efficiency:

    • Accurately enter customer orders into the POS system, ensuring all items are properly communicated to the kitchen.

    • Double-check orders before sending them to the kitchen to avoid mistakes and ensure accuracy.

    • Assist in keeping food and drink orders organized, ensuring that meals are delivered to the correct tables promptly.

    • Handle multiple tables efficiently during busy periods, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.

  4. Customer Satisfaction:

    • Monitor guests throughout their meal to ensure their satisfaction with both food and service.

    • Anticipate guest needs and offer additional items or services, such as refills or dessert, to enhance the overall experience.

    • Handle customer complaints or issues professionally and promptly, working to resolve problems or escalate to a manager when necessary.

    • Ensure a positive guest experience that encourages return visits and positive feedback.

  5. Teamwork & Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with other servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure efficient service and smooth restaurant operations.

    • Assist with bussing tables, cleaning, and resetting tables between guests to maintain a clean dining area.

    • Support the kitchen staff by communicating guest requests, special orders, or modifications to dishes.

  6. Cleaning & Sanitation:

    • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the server station and dining area.

    • Ensure that all items, such as silverware, glassware, and condiments, are clean, stocked, and ready for use.

    • Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure food safety, including proper handling of food and beverages.

    • Clean tables, chairs, and surrounding areas as needed between guests to maintain a clean dining environment.

  7. Payment & Closing:

    • Present guests with their checks, process payments, and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.

    • Follow the proper cash handling and tip-out procedures as established by the restaurant.

    • Ensure all payments are processed correctly and that any issues with the bill are resolved promptly.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties, including but not limited to food supplies, dishware, and equipment. When handling heavier loads, employees MUST use appropriate lifting equipment and/or seek assistance from a second person.
