Job description

Description

The Server is responsible for greeting guests, taking food and beverage orders, delivering orders to the table, facilitating payment, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Ensures that each guest receives excellent guest service by providing a guest-friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging every guest and by maintaining excellent standards.
  • Greets guests when seated; ensures the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs are provided. 
  • Distributes menus and presents daily specials. 
  • Ensures that customers are of legal drinking age by checking photo IDs, if ordering alcoholic beverage. 
  • Accurately ring orders, prepare checks, and take payment via POS system.
  • Ensures food and beverage items meet guests' satisfaction; Maintains guests' needs throughout dining experience. 
  • Helps maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant. 
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as state health/sanitation standards.
  • Completes daily and weekly side work, as assigned.
  • Attends staff meeting sessions and training, as required.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in front of house or similar restaurant operations, preferred.
  • Wisconsin approved food service certification, e.g., SERV Safe. (This may be attained within 30 days after hiring date).   

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to interface effectively with customers, staff, vendors and management.
  • General computer knowledge including Point of Sale systems and credit card processing.
  • Basic mathematical skills relating to handling money and giving proper change. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours frequently required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift and frequent physical activity as associated with serving and bartending.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Must be able to climb stairs occasionally.
