What is a server manager?

Server Managers are IT professionals responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring computer servers within an organization. They ensure servers run efficiently, are secure from threats, and meet the needs of users and business operations. Their duties often include troubleshooting server issues, performing backups, applying updates, and planning for future server capacity. Server Managers play a vital role in minimizing downtime and keeping critical systems available and reliable.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a server manager?

To thrive as a Server Manager, you need a solid understanding of server administration, network infrastructure, and IT security, typically supported by a degree in computer science or related certifications like CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
