Job description

The Senate Sergeant at Arms is seeking a Transition Specialist #144. The complete vacancy announcement and application can be found on the United States Senate Career Page at https://sen.gov/1VNZQ. Required Work Experience

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in project management, coordination and/ or physical change management, and a minimum of one (1) year Congressional experience.

Required Special Skills/ Knowledge

  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions, including policies and regulations set by the Senate Rules Committee, the Senate Committee on Ethics, and the Architect of the Capitol pertaining to facilities management.
  • Knowledge of office equipment, computers, relevant software/web applications, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to communicate and manage complex projects with diplomacy, tact, and professional bearing.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills and the ability to formulate written content on a variety of subjects in a range of styles.
  • Ability to conduct research and accurately prepare and process a variety of reports and documents.
  • Ability to obtain Change Management certification.

Working Conditions

  • Since this position requires onsite presence in support of the U.S. Senate when in session, this position requires the employee to be available and prepared to work during lapses in appropriations, in inclement weather, on holidays, and during late-night, overnight, and weekend sessions. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.
  • This position directly supports essential services of the U.S. Senate.
