What is a septic?

A septic job involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of septic systems, which treat and dispose of wastewater in areas without access to municipal sewage. Workers in this field inspect, pump, and clean septic tanks, as well as troubleshoot issues like clogs and leaks. They may also install new systems, ensuring proper drainage and environmental compliance. Proper maintenance helps prevent system failures and protects groundwater from contamination.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for a septic technician?

You may use specialized equipment to diagnose issues, repair or replace faulty components, and ensure systems are operating in compliance with health and safety regulations. The job often involves driving service vehicles to different client locations, completing reports, and educating customers on proper septic care. This hands-on role requires a blend of technical skills and customer service as you interact directly with clients and may occasionally collaborate with plumbers, contractors, or local code inspectors.
