Job Description
About Harmelin Media:
Harmelin Media is a full-funnel media agency headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. Over the past 43 years, we have grown into one of the largest independent media agencies in the country with billings approaching one billion dollars.
Our growth has been driven by our commitment to our clients, our employees, and our community. We pride ourselves on customizing strategy to each client and evolving roles to fit each employee's strengths. The proof is in the unparalleled tenure of both our clients and our staff.
If you are looking for a career that offers opportunities to forge a strategic vision, innovate through technology or nurture client relationships in the advertising industry, Harmelin is interested in learning more about you!
Position Summary:
Harmelin Media is seeking an SEO Manager to join our activation team. Search is at a pivotal moment, and with the integration of our paid and organic search teams, we are evolving our structure to stay ahead of an AI-driven landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, insights-driven group that plays a critical role in driving client performance and business outcomes.
We are seeking candidates with 6+ years of hands-on SEO experience developing and implementing strategic SEO plans across technical SEO, content optimization, link building, and AI-driven visibility (e.g., Generative Engine Optimization), as well as proactively leading reporting and insights for client websites. Candidates should bring a proven track record of driving measurable results across both traditional and modern search environments, with the ability to lead client strategy and relationships from day one. Paid search experience is a plus, and this role provides opportunities to expand into complementary areas of search while collaborating closely with account teams, internal specialists, and platform partners. As the day-to-day lead for assigned clients, you will proactively lead client calls and strategy meetings, serving as the primary point of contact for client SEO strategy, reporting, and insights.
Title and salary for position to be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide recommendations on internal linking, content promotion, content creation and implementation of schema mark up
  • Utilize your knowledge of technical SEO to ensure client websites are maintained and migrated properly
  • Research link building opportunities and organize link building campaigns for clients
  • Proactively identify emerging trends (e.g., AI Overviews, GEO, zero-click SERPs) and lead implementation of new tactics to measure and improve results
  • Lead creation of monthly client reports, translating data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations, including pivot tables in Excel and analysis reports on various platforms
  • Lead SEO assessments and represent SEO in new business pitches for potential clients
  • Proactively lead client calls, strategy meetings, and reporting conversations for assigned clients
  • Continuously improve SEO skillset, staying up to date with tools, trends and best practices through research and/or industry events/conferences
  • Mentor, delegate to, and provide feedback for junior team members supporting assigned accounts
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary to meet team and company needs

Keys to Success:
  • Typically 6+ years of relevant SEO experience, or an equivalent combination of related experience and demonstrated expertise
  • Strong knowledge of on-site and off-site SEO strategies, including AI-driven visibility and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
  • Proven ability to proactively lead client relationships, strategy conversations, and reporting/insights discussions
  • Independently identify opportunities, risks, and optimization initiatives, driving recommendations without direct oversight
  • Demonstrated experience with the following platforms (or similar tools): Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMRush, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Link Explorer
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of team best practices, processes, and strategic capabilities
  • Experience mentoring, training, or overseeing junior team members preferred
  • Current GA4 certification preferred
  • Working understanding of Google Tag Manager, UTM strategy, and GA4 configuration is preferred
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
