Job description

We have an exciting opportunity on our Sales team as a Retirement Plan Executive to generate retirement plan sales from companies outside of Sentry’s core focus markets, achieve growth objectives, retention objectives, and profitability in a defined geographical area. You will collaborate with Life and Annuities leadership in determining the best approaches for prospecting and customer pipeline development for these new sales opportunities.

What You’ll Do

As the Retirement Plan Executive, you’ll be tasked with a 401(k) direct sales quota selling directly to the plan sponsor business owner. You’ll create, monitor and revise lead generation plans to ensure a substantive sales opportunity pipeline. Additionally, you’ll:

  • Via 401(k) lead generation sources such as Larkspur, Free ERISA / Benefits Pro 5500 search, you identify and directly prospect the plan sponsor to present and sell Senty’s 401(k) products and services.

  • Facilitate the generation of retirement plan interest from plan sponsors by conducting fact finds, final presentations and submitting sold cases in good order.

  • Generate personal sales production of retirement plan products through direct contacts with prospects outside of Sentry’s target commercial property/casualty insurance markets.

  • Conduct group and individual retirement plan enrollment and education meetings.

  • Conduct employer service calls to review plan design, compliance, testing, plan health and participant retirement readiness.

  • Provide input to the development of product innovation, sales ideas, marketing materials and sales training programs.

  • Perform other job-related duties requiring the same general knowledge, skills and degree of responsibility commensurate with assigned level.

Total first year estimated projected compensation range for this position is $150,000-$175,000 which is a combination of base pay and currently estimated new business commission opportunities. Commission opportunities are based on achievement of sales objectives and compliance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan with no maximum on potential compensation.


What it Takes

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years of related work experience.

  • Direct B2B or Retirement plan industry or financial/retirement plan sales preferred and/or customer service related experience; knowledge of 401(k) products and familiarity with plan design & testing.

  • Proven ability to prospect 401(k) sales opportunities via the phone and generate sales activity.

  • Poised public speaker with proven ability to engage and present to diverse audiences of all sizes; strong interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills required, along with excellent verbal/written communication and listening skills.

  • Current license to sell life insurance products or the ability to obtain a license in a reasonable amount of time and/or FINRA licenses where required.

  • Proficient ability to work within and use a retirement plan customer relationship management system (Microsoft Dynamics).

  • Proficient knowledge and use of PC software applications such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Ability to meet the travel demands of the position and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.

  • Proven ability to successfully manage his or her own time and compete for others’ time in order to drive efficiencies.
