The Sales Engineer – Sensor Specialist is responsible for supporting the Field Sales Rep.by providing technical expertise for sensor products and solutions across a portfolio for assigned customers. This role serves as a shared resource supporting both Testco and PEI. This position acts as the primary technical advisor for sensor technologies working with Field Sales Reps on specific accounts directly and sometimes indirectly to grow design-in revenue in the region. The incumbent will need to be well organized, customer-focused and technical to be successful. The Sales Engineer – Sensor Specialist will provide technical advice, knowledge and support through the design cycle with the goal of a position on the customer’s approved vendor list. Success is measured in terms of design confirmations and revenue. The Sales Engineer - Sensor Specialist must work collaboratively with the company’s management, engineering, sales, and product management with the goal of providing creative solutions and product expertise to Testco and PEI customers. The position will require the incumbent to be influential and able to build relationships with internal resources as well as external with customers, manufacturers and manufacturers’ representatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • BA/BS, Electrical or Mechanical engineering degree preferred.
  • Five years’ (minimum) successful professional selling experience with technical products in a business-to-business environment. 
  • Experience in electronic component sales preferred
  • Experience in a multi-asset team selling environment preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in all computer skills to include the company CRM and Microsoft programs of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Participate in the development of training tools, sales strategies for targeted vertical markets, and key customers working with both Testco and PEI.
  • Maintain relevant industry knowledge both commercial and technical with customers served.
  • Collaborate with sales on design solutions with key customers resulting in revenue growth for sensor solutions.
  • Maximize time and territory plans to increase productivity, solutions selling and sales of sensor products
  • Initiate, coordinate and conduct seminars/lunch & learns to promote Sensor products and value proposition for new and existing target customers.
  • Build relationships with manufacturer representative firms and manufacturers of products to increase preferential treatment and share of mind
  • Participate in and help achieve annual budget targets while developing a forward-looking, high potential customer portfolio
  • Develop industry leading product knowledge through utilization of internal and external resources
