Position Purpose:
The Senior Specialist, Internal Communications, plays a critical role in informing, engaging and aligning associates in The Home Depot's Customer Solutions contact center organization. This is not an entry-level role. The position is meant for an experienced communications professional who excels at translating business strategies, operational changes and key organizational updates into clear, actionable messaging for internal associates.
The Senior Specialist operates with a proactive mindset, crafting high-impact content for internal channels - including emails, newsletters, leadership townhalls and the company intranet - to drive associate alignment, engagement and reinforce company culture.
Key Responsibilities:
  • 25% Monitoring news and social media
  • 20% Measurement, analysis and reporting traditional and social media trends
  • 10% Writing press materials (incl. press releases, media alerts, pitch materials)
  • 15% Proactive media relations planning & execution (proactive pitching)
  • 15% Researching/writing corporate site content
  • 15% Respond to various local and trade media inquiries, Managing vendors, payments, analysis of potential new vendors, and Manage press release process (proofing/distribution), PR Email Inbox

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
  • Reports to a Sr Manager, Corporate Communications

Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic responsibilities include overseeing internal communications channel strategy, developing and editing leader communications, change management announcements and internal newsletter and email content for the Customer Solutions organization. The Senior Specialist monitors the performance of internal communications channels and makes strategic and creative recommendations to improve channel effectiveness.

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
