ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity across on-premises and cloud environments. This role provides end-to-end ownership of network architecture with a strong focus on routing, switching, security, and availability. The Senior Network Engineer may supervise junior staff and provide technical leadership within the team. This position defines and evolves enterprise network standards and architecture, aligning network solutions across on-premises data centers, VMware-based environments, and Microsoft Azure to meet business and operational requirements.

Essential Functions

  •  Perform the role of lead and may perform supervisory duties; assigning work, distributing workload, authorizing timesheets, approving vacation requests, and assisting in recruitment and evaluation processes
  • Ensure the health, reliability, and security of the Company’s local and wide-area networks by monitoring and analyzing network hardware, software, utilization, and availability logs taking corrective actions as required
  • Plan resource allocation and develop work plans for the network group
  • Manage multiple and simultaneous complex technology projects with a significant impact to the Company
  • Manage new services, business solutions, service delivery, and/or migration to new systems
  • Participate and contribute in the strategic plan for the Company’s enterprise network
  • Resolve escalated complex network system limitations and access problems for all enterprise systems
  • Review network policies and deliver recommendations based on current and future needs and industry best practices
  • Perform knowledge transfers among team members by preparing and maintaining documentation for networks, systems, processes, procedures, written instructions, and solutions to problems
  • Provide consultation to executive management
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, VPN, internet edge, and data center networking 
  • Manage and optimize routing/switching infrastructure (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, QoS, multicast) 
  • Administer enterprise firewalls, segmentation, and secure remote access solution
  • Lead network security initiatives aligned with zero trust architecture and cybersecurity best practices
  • Support cloud networking in Azure including ExpressRoute, VPN gateways, and hybrid connectivity 
  • Maintain high availability and disaster recovery networking strategies 
  • Perform packet captures, deep-dive troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for critical outages 
  • Maintain network monitoring, alerting, configuration backup, and performance management platforms 
  • Manage network lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, hardware refreshes, and capacity planning 
  • Create and enforce network standards, diagrams, and operational documentation 
  • Effectively oversee junior staff and vendors/suppliers
  • Regular professional development by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
