Senior UX Designer (contract to hire)

Tactile

Seattle, WA • On-site

$130 - $150/hr

Contractor

Re-posted 19 days ago

Job description

Tactile is a UX and product design firm specializing in design solutions for trusted professionals-the people behind the work that continues to improve (and even save) lives. This means crafting quality products with lasting relevance and impact. Meaningful physical and digital experiences for everyday moments and the one of a kind.
Tactile is made up of an exceptional group of people, spanning user experience, visual design, industrial design, and mechanical engineering. We look at product design holistically, knowing that a product isn't just another project. It's where intent and relevance intersect in order to solve real-world problems. Designers at Tactile find balance in usability, delight, and feasibility-it's there that solutions to complex problems come to life. We work on a wide spectrum of exciting and challenging projects that allow our designers to gain new experiences, learn, and advance their craft.
We're looking for a Senior UX Designer (contract to hire) who thrives in early-stage ambiguity and loves shaping new experiences that positively impact peoples' jobs and lives. This role is for someone who leads with curiosity, explores and communicates visually (sketching, storyboarding, prototyping), and makes challenges and opportunities tangible for the team and client. You will be working directly with a Seattle-based e-commerce and technology leader, translating complex business requirements into tangible solutions for a top-tier strategic client.

This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role. You'll partner closely with Tactile researchers and cross-disciplinary designers, as well as client teams and stakeholders to translate insights into clear, compelling directions. While you're comfortable collaborating on interface details and systems, your center of gravity is experience definition and advocacy, not pixel-perfection.
YOU ARE
  • Able to illustrate your ideas and communicate findings effectively in presentations and client meetings, adapting style and detail level to meet client and project needs.
  • Both independent and team-oriented, with the ability to design and develop UX and UI solutions for a wide variety of products and platforms.
  • Motivated to conduct your own user research, task analysis, and usability testing to get at the heart of problems.
YOU WILL
  • Define user flows, information architecture, and interaction models, shaping systems of behavior across touchpoints, not just individual screens
  • Be responsible for managing a diverse range of work tasks and projects, including crafting, pitching, and/or validating design decisions made.
  • Ensure experiences are cohesive, intentional, and grounded in real user needs.
  • Assess changing project requirements and client needs in order to make necessary trade-offs and/or adjustments to your day-to-day workflow.
  • Seek out user/engagement data, proven design patterns, and co-worker input to aid in your design efforts.
  • Thoroughly and accurately document your progress and share your knowledge with others.
YOU HAVE
  • 8+ years of experience working in product, experience, and/or service design.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating UX leadership, collaborative exploration, and concept development - including sketching, storyboarding, journey mapping, and experience narratives grounded in research
  • Proficiency with industry standard design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma.
  • Group facilitation skills, including the ability to make conversations tangible, and advocate for user and project needs on the fly.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, with ability to work creatively around difficult business, technical and resource constraints.
  • The ability to manage large projects with repetitive design tasks with a high degree of focus, attention and passion.
This contract position pays between $130 and $150 hourly. Individual pay ranges are determined by a wide variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. This position may be eligible for paid sick leave. It's a flexible position with available hours based on Tactile's needs.

Tactile is committed to providing equal consideration for employment and advancement opportunities. Employment decisions are based on merit and business needs and not on age, race, color, citizenship status, national origin, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, religion, creed, physical or mental disability, veteran status, political affiliation, or any other factor protected by law.
