Under the general direction of the Office Chief, the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans, performs the duties and responsibilities associated with all phases of the transportation project development process. This includes directing the work of transportation engineering staff and maintaining close communication and coordination among project team members; consultants; the Division of Structures; and Headquarters functional units. The incumbent ensures that the planning and design process is efficiently advanced - from early preliminary reviews and environmental and design studies through the completion of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) to construction support.

Working Conditions
Position located at 111 Grand Ave Oakland, CA 94612, Alameda County
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The incumbent will primarily work in a climate-controlled office or cubicle under artificial lighting, as well as under a telework agreement to be agreed upon by management. Extensive computer usage is required. The incumbent may be required to visit off-site locations as needed; may be required to travel to other office complexes, and Caltrans' facilities. Work hours will be set sometime between 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Work outside the normal hours may be required, and vacations may be restricted, during peak times and fiscal year-end closing. All commute expenses to the Headquarters location will be the responsibility of the employee.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

• This position requires a valid Professional Engineer (PE) License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers for appointment.
• The position(s) require(s) a valid and Class C driver's license.
