Role description

Arcadis seeks a Senior Traffic Project Manager to join our transportation team in Atlanta, GA. As a client‑facing project manager in traffic engineering, your role would involve a range of responsibilities focused on improving safety and operations. You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior program managers, project managers, and engineers to lead the delivery for programs and projects across the Southeast.

The role sits within our Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities
  • Client Leadership and Business Development: Serve as a primary client relationship manager for Georgia DOT, local municipalities, MPOs, private developers and other transportation stakeholders. Develop and maintain trusted advisor relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying emerging needs and a positioning Arcadis to support long‑term program and project objectives. Lead business development activities including opportunity identification, capture planning, teaming strategies, proposal development, interviews and contract negotiations. Collaborate with account leaders and regional management to develop growth strategies for transportation planning, traffic engineering, operations analysis, and intelligent mobility services. Represent Arcadis at industry organizations and conferences, technical committees, and client meetings to strengthen market presence and expand business opportunities.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and quality review of traffic studies, transportation impact analyses, forecasting studies, operational assessments, safety evaluations, corridor studies, and multimodal transportation analyses. Provide technical oversight for traffic forecasting methodologies, trip generation analyses, travel demand forecasting, traffic impact studies, intersection analyses, and corridor‑level operational assessments. Direct the application of transportation analysis and modeling tools including Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, SIDRA, VISSM, Vistro, TransModeler, and regional travel demand models. Guide the development of transportation recommendations that balance operation performance, safety, accessibility, sustainability and community objectives. Ensure technical deliverables meet applicable federal, states and local agency standards, including GDOT, FHWA, MPO, ITE, MUTCD and AASHTO requirements.
  • Project Management and Delivery: Serve as Client‑Facing Project Manager; act as the main point of contact for clients, overseeing traffic engineering projects. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with clients throughout the project lifecycle. Lead multidisciplinary project teams in the successful delivery of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing, risk management, and quality performance throughout the project lifecycle. Provide executive‑level project updates to clients and Arcadis leadership, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions when necessary. Coordinate closely with roadway, ITS, planning, environmental, and public involvement teams to deliver integrated transportation solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Ability to obtain Georgia PE within one year of hire
Key Attributes
  • Understanding of the use of traffic analysis tools including VISSIM, Sidra, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS
  • Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures
  • Experience/familiarity with Microstation and/or Bentley OpenRoads
  • Must possess a U.S. Driver’s License
  • Experience in operational and/or safety analysis
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: GDOT design standards, ITS design, traffic operations studies, intersection conceptual drafting, or safety studies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering
  • Experience managing large tasks and/or projects

Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $112,640.00 - $168,968.00. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
