Job description

Performs testing according to established internal or customer procedures and test methods. Assists engineering and other Company personnel in determining test equipment and test criteria. Responsible for maintaining Company equipment calibration status.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • With little direction, performs lab tests to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations, such as load, insertion/extraction, torque, etc. and; 
  • Conducts testing as needed to resolve internal and customer quality issues.
  • Conducts testing plans per DVP&R's including PV and DV Testing.
  • Create comprehensive test reports.
  • Maintains company Calibration Database.
  • Maintains equipment PM'S.
  • Coordinates and schedules equipment calibration per established procedures.
  • Maintains lab supplies and orders test and inspection equipment as needed.
  • Maintains documented inspection and test results as outlined in company procedures.
  • Assists the Engineering Department in continuously improving the integrity of the department.
  • Manages the HAZCOM logs and audits; complies with all OSHA and corporate required compliance.
  • Must maintain 5S standards within lab.
  • Travels to customer and or supplier sites, as required.
  • Works with outside vendors.
  • Manages the HAZCOM logs and audits for testing lab; is main entry point for incoming chemicals; complies with all OSHA and corporate required compliance.
  • Other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience in a lab technician position.
  • Basic machine electrical and hydraulic skills required.
  • Experience in testing and calibration procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to use assigned lab equipment (Thermotron, Instron, Burst ect.).
  • Knowledge of physical and functional test procedures and requirements.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and high level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Problem solving experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain all test equipment.
  • Design, assemble, and fabricate customized test fixtures utilizing light machining and welding skills.
  • Assemble samples for testing. 
  • Basic electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
