Job Summary

Conduct electrical test engineering support involving automation, assembly, maintenance, and data collection. Develop test routines, software, and systems for testing products to meet customer specifications. Manage all facets of production, costing, development, support, training, and automation regarding test issues on a corporate scale.

Essential Functions
  • Perform all duties of a Test Engineer.
  • Collaborate with the customer up front to ensure a diagnosable and testable product.
  • Lead the development and improvement of test systems, operating systems, peripheral enhancements, and provide all facets of system documentation.
  • Provide leadership on next‑generation test systems and operating systems. Design and develop high‑level software and hardware for next‑generation systems.
  • Coordinate system designs with outside vendors and develop specifications for contracted equipment builds.
  • Coordinate projects and implementation plans for new product introduction and customer requirements.
  • Lead and mentor engineers and technicians supporting new development projects.
  • Transition test process plans between facilities for new products.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations to test, manufacturing, product, and quality engineers on production feedback and support issues.
  • Develop quote information, pricing, test plans, automation methods, and process development for new products.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis of test malfunction and component verification.
  • Establish and document corporate test strategies and a 5‑year plan.
  • Ensure test plan compliance with customer specifications.
  • Recommend solutions for new product capacity issues and constraints.
  • Determine requirements for Design for Testability.
  • Own processes and demonstrate leadership in process ownership.
  • Develop and lead manufacturing engineering projects, managing schedule, budget, and specifications.
  • Train and support manufacturing and test engineers and manufacturing teams (including remote sites).
Other Functions
  • Attend meetings as needed to support organization activity.
  • Interface with customers to discuss highly technical issues with customers and test suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to achieve corporate and departmental objectives outside normal job duties.
Supervision

Supervision is received from the Test Engineering Manager. This position leads a cross‑functional manufacturing engineering team in new product introduction and represents the manufacturing and test engineering team on program teams. The role also mentors and supervises the work of other engineers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience in test engineering, firmware development, computer programming in C, C++, and electronic circuit and system design.
  • Programming required in LabVIEW.
  • Experience operating MFG PRO software or equivalent manufacturing software.
  • Ability to interpret test output to troubleshoot defects; familiarity with advanced programming languages, database generation, network theory, and high‑level component design and integration.
  • Strong mathematical skills (exponents, logarithms, statistics, probability, sampling theory, etc.).
  • Analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and determine critical parameters.
  • Read and understand PCA assembly drawings and technical notes.
  • Technical writing ability and effective oral communication to management and technical staff.
  • Training delivery to small or large technical audiences.
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Broad internet and office software proficiency, including CAD, email, Word, databases, and spreadsheets.
  • Poise, tact, and diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four or more years of test engineering experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with IPC‑610 guidelines.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing and EMS industry, particularly supporting offshore manufacturing facilities.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese.
