Cerium Networks is seeking a Senior Cabling Technician to support voice and data infrastructure projects across the greater Seattle area. In this hands-on field role, you'll lead structured cabling and low-voltage work for VoIP phone system installations, PBX migrations, and customer network and telephony deployments. You'll work both independently and alongside our engineering teams, and you may mentor and direct apprentices on site. This is a senior-level position for an experienced technician who takes ownership of quality, safety, and timelines.


What You'll Do

  • Support VoIP phone system installations and PBX migrations, including cutover support
  • Perform site assessments to scope cabling, pathways, and equipment requirements
  • Rack and stack customer network and telephony equipment; dress and label cabling to standard
  • Complete wallfield / backboard (IDF/MDF) work, including terminations, cross-connects, and grooming
  • Troubleshoot and remediate cabling, connectivity, and infrastructure issues in the field
  • Direct and mentor up to two apprentices, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards
  • Document work accurately and communicate status to project leads and customers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional presence at customer sites

Requirements


What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in structured cabling and low-voltage / telecommunications installation
  • Washington State Limited Energy License (Journeyman) required
  • Demonstrated experience with VoIP installations, PBX/telephony systems, and rack/stack work
  • Proficiency with cabling standards, testing/certification tools, and proper termination practices for both copper and fiber
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and customer-facing professionalism
  • Flexibility to perform other job duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading or mentoring up to two apprentices (strong plus)
  • Experience supporting enterprise or multi-site telephony migrations
  • Familiarity with major VoIP/UC platforms and telephony equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. May lift/carry up to 75 pounds occasionally, with assistance.
  • Frequent bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, grasping and balancing.
  • Standing and walking for 8 hours daily.

Location: Seattle, WA - Must reside in the Seattle area, preferably within 60 miles of Tukwila, WA


Schedule: Monday through Friday, with flexibility to travel occasionally and to work evenings or weekends based on project needs.
