Candidates who thrive in this role are self‑motivated, passionate about the technology they work with, and continue their personal learning to sustain that passion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot a highly available IP/BGP telecommunications network. Configure and install routers, switches, firewalls, and related network devices.
  • Configure, implement, and troubleshoot customer telecommunications services, including DIA, DWDM, Metro Ethernet, and other offerings.
  • Monitor key network indicators, including performance, device health, availability, status, and integrity.

  • Research and evaluate new network technologies and recommend network equipment purchases during infrastructure refresh cycles.
  • Serve as a technical leader by providing consulting services to Threshold Communications customers. Assist with troubleshooting network issues and act as the highest point of technical escalation.
  • Create custom solutions for customers as part of the sales engineering role, with limited capacity.
  • Assist with Threshold Communications’ VoIP platform, including hosted PBX, SIP trunking, and related VoIP services.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation. Record procedures, configurations, troubleshooting, and completed work in the company’s ticketing system and knowledge base.
  • Mentor team members on technical issues and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform on‑site data center work to install, troubleshoot, and maintain systems and network equipment.
  • Participate in the Engineering team’s on‑call rotation.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Eight or more years of industry experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or in a comparable networking role.
  • Telecommunications industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Strong working knowledge of the OSI model and ability to troubleshoot TCP/IP networks using physical and software diagnostic tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in planning, deploying, and troubleshooting WANs, LANs, firewalls, DNS, VLANs, static and dynamic IP addressing, and VPNs.
