Sr Systems Administrator
The Senior Systems Administrator is a senior-level, hands-on infrastructure role responsible for the administration, reliability, security, and ongoing improvement of G&W Electric's enterprise server and infrastructure environment. The role combines advanced technical administration with infrastructure strategy development and project execution.
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for enterprise Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization infrastructure, backup and recovery, service accounts, and related infrastructure technologies. The position serves as a senior technical resource, develops infrastructure standards and roadmaps, and leads infrastructure projects from planning and design through implementation and operational transition.
This position is based on-site in Romeoville, Illinois.
As an Sr Systems Administrator you will:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Windows and Linux server environments, including operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, patching, and related infrastructure services.
  • Manage and support enterprise virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure, including capacity, performance, upgrades, lifecycle management, and troubleshooting.
  • Administer enterprise backup and recovery platforms and ensure backup reliability, retention, recoverability, and alignment with disaster recovery requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and test backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency processes for business-critical systems.
  • Manage enterprise service accounts, including provisioning, security, credential management, access reviews, documentation, and lifecycle management.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex server, virtualization, storage, backup, and infrastructure performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure strategies, standards, roadmaps, technical documentation, and lifecycle plans for assigned technologies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, security, automation, standardization, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead infrastructure projects from requirements and solution design through planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to ongoing support.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and other IT teams to maintain secure configurations, remediate vulnerabilities, manage privileged access, and support security and compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate infrastructure technologies and solutions and provide recommendations based on business requirements, technical standards, security, supportability, and total cost of ownership.

Leadership Responsibilities:
Serves as a senior technical resource within the infrastructure team, providing technical leadership, knowledge transfer, and guidance to other IT team members. Leads assigned infrastructure projects and coordinates internal resources, business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to ensure successful execution.
We are looking for someone who has:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or a related technical role.
  • Advanced experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments and core enterprise infrastructure services.
  • Experience administering Linux server environments.
  • Strong experience with enterprise virtualization, storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery technologies and practices.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, service accounts, privileged access, and related infrastructure services.
  • Experience with PowerShell, scripting, or other automation technologies used to improve infrastructure administration and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and systems issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing infrastructure projects and technology implementations.
  • Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to balance hands-on operational responsibilities with infrastructure planning, strategy, and continuous improvement.

Ideally you will also have:
  • Experience administering Nutanix virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure.
  • Experience administering Cohesity or comparable enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration experience, including installation, configuration, backup/recovery, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and configuration management.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Linux, Nutanix, Cohesity, or other infrastructure certifications.

What we offer you:
Typical pay is $96,555 ๏ฟฝ128,577 annually.
