Senior Biomedical Informatics Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Biomedical Informatics Specialist to join our team!

Responsibilities:
·         Augments or directs teams providing high level biomedical functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation. 
·         Serves as project lead and senior specialist for content domain areas and/or development projects, including liaison duties with clients. 
·         The software that NCI uses to produce NCI Thesaurus and NCI Metathesaurus is complex and requires extensive training. Senior Staff familiarity and competence with this software is highly desirable. 
·         At a minimum, three members of the proposed staff must be expert users of terminology development software tools as specified in tasks above and shall be responsible for any necessary training of the remaining contractor staff

Qualifications:
·         A minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in areas such as biomedical or scientific terminology and related systems design and approaches. Must have an advanced degree, Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) preferred. Master’s degree plus at least 5 years of additional directly related work experience over and above the minimum experience requirements for this position may be substituted for a PhD. 
·         For senior specialists on select assignments, an MD, DO, PhD, PharmD or other advanced degree with commensurate experience, plus a minimum of five years additional experience in biomedical information systems content design and management, including thorough knowledge of major biomedical terminology standard products and terminology development practices, is required. 
·         For a Sr. Biomedical Informatics Specialist – pathologist advanced degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine (M.D. or D.O.) with specialization in pathology and minimum of five (5) years of pathology experience in clinical or/and academic setting is required. 
·         Specialization and experience in oncopathology are strongly preferred. 
·         Knowledge, skills, and minimum of ten (10) years of progressive, successful experience in content development for a reputable biomedical terminology/ontology product. 
·         Thorough knowledge of major biomedical terminology standards, classifications, nomenclatures, and terminology/ontology development practices is required.
