Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer is expected to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders in the development of engineering drawings to meet client and regulatory requirements. This person will be an effective multi-tasker, highly organized with process documentation and will be instrumental in mentoring junior engineers and promoting a culture of collaboration within the department.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

  • Create designs specific to low voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers, and related equipment mostly from scratch.
  • Effectively collaborate with the key stakeholders (mechanical engineers, production, purchasing, vendors, etc.) to develop complete drawings, submittals, and BOM packages that meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and project requirements.
  • Work with QA and Testing group to develop and review testing plans.
  • Follow and develop standard design processes and documentations to improve quality and efficiency in engineering design.
  • Make changes and corrections in electrical design throughout the life of the product.
  • Effectively support other departments such as project management, production, and sales.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized in documentations.
  • Work closely and proactively with a hands-on approach with the production team to resolve identified issues quickly.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of collaboration.
  • Complete projects and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Ability to work on the assignments with minimal guidance and navigate difficult situations and tasks by working with the key stakeholders and peers.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills and the ability to work with stakeholder teams of various levels of technical understanding.

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Engineering, required
  • EIT (Engineering in Training) certificate, preferred
  • 4 to 10 years of design experience in the relevant industry (switchgear, control circuit, electrical design, etc., preferred
  • Experience with UL891
  • Experience with REVIT and Inventor, preferred
  • Experience in generator and automation controls, specifically PLC/HMI knowledge of Rockwell/Siemens and Woodward, preferred
  • PE license in power systems and controls a strong plus or demonstrated ability to acquire one
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
  • Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift to 50lbs. at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
