SUMMARY
The Test Development Engineer is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of manufacturing test solutions for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA). This role serves as the primary liaison between customer design teams and internal test engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure effective development of ICT (In-Circuit Test) solutions, test fixtures, and production test strategies.
This position is based in Canby, Oregon and works closely with our Test Engineering teams located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Tecate, Mexico to support new product introductions and production test readiness across multiple manufacturing sites. The Test Development Engineer collaborates with customer engineering teams, internal test engineers, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products are designed for testability and manufacturing test solutions are successfully implemented for production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customer design teams and internal test engineering teams to support development of manufacturing test solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with Test Engineering teams in Milwaukee, WI and Tecate, Mexico to support ICT test development and production readiness.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables related to ICT test development, test fixture design, and production test readiness.
  • Coordinate development of ICT test fixtures and test programs for PCBA assemblies.
  • Work with customer design teams to ensure Design for Testability (DFT) requirements are incorporated into PCB designs.
  • Collaborate with internal test engineers to define test strategies, coverage requirements, and fixture specifications.
  • Coordinate with external development partners for fixture design and test solution development when applicable.
  • Ensure manufacturing test solutions are ready to support prototype, pilot, and production builds.
  • Track and resolve issues related to test development, fixture readiness, and production test performance.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds by ensuring test readiness and assisting with troubleshooting during early production.
  • Facilitate communication across customer engineering teams, internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Participate in post-build reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to improve test coverage, product quality, and production yield.
  • Document project progress and provide status updates to stakeholders across multiple manufacturing locations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related engineering discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, test engineering, or technical project management
  • Experience supporting PCBA manufacturing test development, including ICT (In-Circuit Test) environments
  • Experience coordinating test fixture development and manufacturing test solutions
  • Experience working within an electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
  • Experience supporting ICT test systems, flying probe testing, or automated manufacturing test environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience collaborating with customer engineering teams and cross-site engineering teams
  • Experience with Design for Testability (DFT) concepts and PCB design collaboration
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
